NXP and Microsoft Azure RTOS extended relationship

NXP Semiconductors has expanded its partnership with Microsoft to introduce Azure RTOS in the EdgeRTse product portfolio into a wider range of processing solutions.


Through this collaboration, NXP ’s developer community can access Azure RTOS using MCUXpresso software and tools, including fully integrated middleware and tools for file management, graphical user interface, security, networking, and wired / wireless connections.

Currently, Azure RTOS supports low-power, secure 32-bit LPC and i.MX RT cross microcontrollers (MCU) that can be used in many NXPs. The announcement means that NXP intends to expand its partnership and enable Azure RTOS from its popular MCUXpresso software development kit (SDK), which will further expand the support of its broader MCU product portfolio.

This comprehensive integration will help simplify almost every step of the development cycle, such as choosing the right processor, developing and deploying a secure smart edge device, building a secure local area network, and connecting to the cloud.

NXP and Microsoft said the collaboration will reduce the production costs of developers and help them bring new industrial and IoT edge applications to market faster.
